Volunteer
Volunteers are one of the most important assets to New Heights Therapeutic Riding Center.
A volunteer can help in many ways such as leading, side walking, being a spotter, grooming and exercising horses. No horse experience is necessary. All volunteers are required to attend a training session before being scheduled for classes. After training, we will schedule you according to our need and your availability.
Volunteers must be 16 years or older. Due to safety concerns, those younger than 16 years old wishing to volunteer, cannot volunteer even with a parental guardian.
Please print and complete the form in the green box above and email to volunteer@newheightstherapy.org, or bring it in person to our administrative office.
It is important to remember that when volunteering at New Heights, you will be predominantly outside and potentially asked to lift tack that may be heavy.
Please direct any questions you may have to our online form or call our barn office (985) 796-4600.

LEADING
Leaders during a lesson/therapy session are essential! You should plan to arrive 30 minutes beforehand to groom and tack up your horse. During the lesson, you will lead the horse. Your sole responsibility is the horse.
SIDE WALKING
Sidewalking is a vital part of Hippotherapy.
Your responsibility is to help the rider maintain balance and keep them securely on the horse during the lesson.
BARN & HORSE CARE
Whether its grooming the horses before and after sessions or mucking around in the barn, clean up work is vital to our horses health and the well being of our barn.
GROUP VISITS
Are you part of a club or need community hours for school? We welcome group visits for high schools and local community organizations. Our horses love it!
