David Fennelly and Carlos Sanchez

  • David Fennelly was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Irish immigrants. His parents decided to return to their homeland of Ireland shortly after David’s first birthday. The Fennelly’s settled in a small town near Blarney in County Cork, Ireland where David attended Presentation Brothers College.

    At a young age, David developed a keen interest in horses and farm life. After completing his education, he took a job at a farm in Ireland’s midlands. David decided to return to the US in 1985 at the age of 21 to work for the world renowned Spendthrift Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. David worked at Spendthrift Farm for six years.

    In 1991, one of David’s clients and owner of Gatwick Coal Company offered him a job to move to Nashville, TN and join their export coal logistics department. His first assignment at Gatwick was to go to New Orleans and learn about the loading and unloading of ocean going vessels.

    Mr. Fennelly became co-founder of Associated Terminals in 1991. The company began as a broker of stevedoring services on the Lower Mississippi River. Turn Services was acquired in 2004 with David becoming Chairman of the company. This expanded the Group’s marine service offering to include towing and fleeting services.

    The Associated Terminals and Turn Services Group of companies have grown into one of the premier providers of marine services in the Gulf South Region, with its primary concentration being the Lower Mississippi River from the mouth of the river up to and including Baton Rouge.

  • Carlos Sanchez was born in Venezuela to Dr. Antonio Sanchez and Nila Sanchez Dominguez.. He moved to New Orleans from Venezuela in 1984 and graduated from Loyola University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.

    Professionally, he served as operations and customer service manager for Fleetcor, a fleet management company for ___ years. When the company moved to Atlanta, Georgia, Carlos decided to shift his focus to his love of the arts partnered with Brunner Gallery of Covington from 2006 to 2011.

    He and his partner, David Fennelly, have homes in Folsom and New Orleans. While he loves the rich culture of New Orleans, he sees the Northshore and their residence, Summergrove Farms, as his home base. He remains active in the vibrant arts scene in Covington.

    Civic Affiliations

    • Member of St. Tammany Art Association. Volunteer curator of the Members Gallery at STAA.

    • Supporter of New Heights Therapy Center and steering committee of the organization’s annual Garden Party which is held at Summergrove Farms each year.
