New Heights Therapeutic Riding Center is proud to offer services and programs designed to provide life changing Adaptive Riding Equine Therapy to meet the specific needs of each rider. Our services include Adaptive Riding, Hippotherapy, and Equine Assisted Services.

Our Equine Assisted Services include FREE programs for Veterans and First-Responders thanks to Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust.

  • Adaptive Therapy or Adaptive Riding focuses on teaching students the skills of riding while also working towards holistic goals such as improved mood, self-discipline, improved self-esteem, patience, and improved focus.

    This type of therapeutic riding works by strengthening muscles, improving posture and fine motor skills, increasing memory, comprehension and concentration by challenging cognition and communication skills, and has other benefits.

    Therapists and equines are trained to work with a variety of special needs including but not limited to developmental delays, ADD/ADHD, autism, cerebral palsy, visual and hearing impaired, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and more.

  • Hippotherapy is a customized treatment approach conducted by a licensed physical or occupational therapist. Therapists use the horse, its' movement, and warmth as a tool in therapy sessions.

    Therapists address clients' goals as they would in a hospital, rehabilitation center, or outpatient center.

    Benefits from this therapy can include but are not limited to improving posture and fine motor skills, encouraging and promoting social interaction between riders and instructors, increasing stamina and increasing memory, comprehension and concentration by challenging cognition and communication skills.

    Therapists and equines are trained to work with a variety of special needs including but not limited to muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, severe depression and anxiety, autism, down syndrome, and more.

  • This program is provided to Veterans free of charge thanks to the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust Fund.

    Through equine-assisted activities, participants have opportunities to strengthen confidence, build connections, reduce stress, and develop resilience in a peaceful and encouraging environment. The program focuses on reducing stress and isolation, strengthening communication and coping skills, promoting emotional wellness, and fostering a renewed sense of purpose and community, nonjudgemental connection that can help veterans reconnect with themselves and others in a meaningful way.

    Activities may include groundwork with horses, grooming, team-building exercises, and other equine -assisted experiences tailored to the needs of the participants.  No horse experience is necessary, and all veterans are welcome.

  • This program is provided to First-Responders free of charge thanks to the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust Fund.

    Through equine-assisted activities and meaningful interactions with horses, first responders are given a unique opportunity to decompress, reconnect, and build resilience in a peaceful, supportive environment.  This program focuses on stress reduction, confidence building, emotional wellness, and teamwork while fostering connection and community among participants. 

    First Responders are welcomed into a space where they can step away from the demands of their work and focus on their own well-being. Activities may include groundwork with horses, grooming, team building exercises, and guided equine-assisted experiences tailored to the needs of the group. 

    No horse experience is necessary.
