ABOUT ADAPTIVE RIDING

Therapeutic riding focuses on teaching students the skills of riding while also working towards holistic goals such as improved mood, self-discipline, improved self-esteem, patience, and improved focus. Therapeutic riding instructors are certified through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International to provide equine assisted activities and therapies to participants. Clients must be four years or older to participate in therapeutic riding.

How It Works

  • Strengthens muscles

  • Increases stamina

  • Improves posture and fine motor skills

  • Horse's movement facilitates the same pelvic and leg movement of the human walk

  • Increases memory, comprehension and concentration by challenging cognition and communication skills

  • Replaces therapy burnout with enthusiasm

  • Empowers riders and helps them build self-esteem

  • Encourages and promotes social interactions between fellow riders and instructors
